A Cart Apart
A film by Amanda Hughes
The Shopping Cart Theory
The Shopping Cart Theory suggests a person's moral character can be determined by whether or not they return their shopping cart to the designated area after use. To return the shopping cart is objectively the correct thing to do, however, not returning the cart is not illegal, nor is there punishment for not doing so. Thus, one's choice whether or not to return the cart speaks to their ability to self-govern and do the right thing.
The Film
A Cart Apart is a short film exploring the shopping car theory. This film highlights individuals from both ends of a spectrum: the cart returners, and the abandoners. Can we categorize people as morally "good" or "bad" based on this simple human behavior? We seek to understand both perspective of this polarizing theory, and perhaps find a little compassion along the way.
Tell us your story.
We are looking for individuals to offer their shopping cart experiences to be highlighted in our film.
Do you return your shopping cart? Have you ever abandoned your shopping cart? Maybe you work as a cart wrangler and have witnessed a cart disaster. Whatever your shopping cart experience is, we want to hear from you.
